Why is 10 afraid of 7? It’s because seven ate (eight) nine! “Almost every instant, we encounter them; in counting, measuring, judging, analyzing, and in many other things we do daily; we are dealing with numbers”. “They are with us throughout life and the exact reason I picked the date 7/7/7, as my wedding day.

“Some repeat: some, we never meet”. “Frequently coming across the same number or a particular numeric pattern is only a coincidence; you may think”. “But there are others (Me) who believe that numbers carry a hidden meaning” and might actually sway time, luck, and events in my direction. Or so I thought.

You might say, I’m superstitious, cosmically, comically inclined, aligned, or how I’m a hard-core Beatle fan and Ringo’s birthday is July 7th. Actually, I was ensuring our nuptials were blessed by the angels and that God would walk with our union till the ends of Earth and time no longer exists. I had too many forces against me during this time period, and my father would not be able to walk me down the aisle, like I so hoped.

I’m not the kind of girl who gets too caught up in fairytales or wedding expectations, but not having one family member present for me; hurt more than words. Still, I mustered all the courage and strength I could, and headed Tahoe bound, in my Nissan Sentra. Trooper (Sentra) rolled over 77,777 miles whilst being whisked through the mountains of holy matrimonial vows for honor, cherishing, and obeying, till death do us part. That’s a good sign, right? So, I told myself.

There were stirrings about a crop circle that formed that morning in East Field,
Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, England. I’m a truth-seeker by birthright and have researched the unknown my whole life and likely the lives priorly. Another good sign, right? “A crop circle, crop formation, or corn circle is a pattern created by flattening a crop.” “The number of reports of crop circles has substantially increased since the 1970s.” Coincidence, I think not. “There has been scant scientific study of them.” Maybe the “aliens” were giving me a blessing of some sorts.

“Formations are usually created overnight, although some are reported to have appeared during the day.” “In contrast to crop circles or crop formations, archaeological remains can cause cropmarks in the fields in the shapes of circles and squares, but they do not appear overnight, and they are always in the same places every year.” Hmm. I now pronounce you, discombobulated and confused.

“One of at least 90 different-sized circles reported on July 7, 2007, in the East Field
of Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, England.” Mike Murray stated, “Went to this marvelous formation today, the sheer size is overwhelming.” “I couldn’t even guess the area covered.” “It seems to ray out from a very large central circle then all the lines of circles decrease in size to nothing.” Just like for better or for worse, eventually time fades and the traces fade. What should remain, is the remembrance of such a significant event.

Pertaining to the number seven, patterns, coincidences, divine intervention, and my wedding day are examples to ponder and vow to make reference, reverence. “It is believed that your guiding angel communicates with you by showing you repeating sequences of numbers.” “If you are seeing a sequence of three 7s, the angel number 777, as it’s called, it indicates that you are on the way to spiritual awareness.”

And we’ve just arrived at the Fantasy Inn in Tahoe, and it’s hot! Two baboons checking in, our suite includes a mammoth tub and a stand-up shower that could fit a tribe, and a welcome to the jungle themed scene sprawled out before us on a Californian King-sized bed. It’s a good thing, I’m guns in roses produced. Lots to unpack for a later day of patience, crying, and November rain. Didn’t think Tahoe would reach the 90’s, but that day was toasty and sizzling heat amongst the blanket of pines.

“Research by the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Stanford School of Medicine says that our skin is regenerated in 7 days.” “Every cell in our body is replaced every 7 years.” “There are seven chakras in our body.” “The stages of grief are considered to be seven in number.” “They are shock, denial, bargaining, guilt, anger, depression, and acceptance.” “The colors of the rainbow are seven in number.” “Their names are famously abbreviated as ‘vibgyor’.” “There are seven days in a week.” “Digital devices use a seven-segment display.” “There are seven basic musical notes, namely, ‘do’, ‘re’, ‘me’, ‘fa’, ‘so’, ‘la’ and ‘te’.” “In Indian music they are denoted as ‘sa’, ‘re’, ‘ga’, ‘ma’, ‘pa’, ‘dha’, and ‘ni’.”

“The number of celestial bodies visible to the naked eye is seven.” “They include the Sun, the Moon and the five planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.” “Earth is a celestial body but since we are on it, for us, it is invisible in the sky!” The stars are amazing this clear for eons picturesque night.

“According to numerological studies, people with the number 7 are spiritual and in a constant search of hidden truths.” “They are explorers by nature and have a very different way of living life.” “Materialistic pleasures do not interest them (“They” do interest us, but more towards health, wealth (i.e., faith, loyalty, and honesty), and stealth).” I didn’t “do” a registry and aimed for a marriage, rather than a day.

Hope for the best, shoot for the stars, and live a life fulfilled; most assuredly left with minimal regret. Those were my bridal gifts of something new, borrowed, and blue. “They are inclined towards the abstract and have an aptitude for art.” “Mostly, they are introverts.” “Introverts have a very active inner thought process.” “That also leads them toward self-reflection and copious amounts of research.”

“Some cultures (Me again) believe palindrome dates to be lucky.” “Which is why many people choose these dates for wedding celebrations.” “It also looks attractive to have the unique pattern of numbers appear on an invitation that’s a lifetime (presumed) keepsake.” Keep in mind most divorces occur in the seventh year of marriage, and the “‘7-year Itch’ is a real term in psychology which says that the happiness in a relationship begins to drop after seven years of marriage.” Yikes! Let’s avoid the worst and dance back to the better.

“A palindrome is a word, number, phrase, or other sequence of characters which reads the same backward as forward, such as civic, radar, level, rotor, kayak, and racecar.” “There are also numeric palindromes, including date/time stamps using short digits 11/11/11 11:11 (make a wish) and long digits 02/02/2020.” “A notable palindrome day is this century’s 2 February 2020 because this date is a palindrome regardless of the date format by country.” “For this reason, this date has also been termed as a “Universal Palindrome Day”. “Other universal palindrome days include, almost a millennium previously, 11/11/1111, the future 12/12/2121, and in a millennium 03/03/3030.”

“Some well-known English palindromes are, “A man, a plan, a canal – Panama” (1948), “Madam, I’m Adam” (1861), and “Never odd or even”. “Was it a bar or a bat I saw?” or “Too hot to hoot.” “But some palindromes can be dates, like we have in January and December 2021.” “The year 2021 offers us a string of palindrome dates,” and hence the reason for this piece, a scrumptious morsel of educational frosted cake with dates, macaroons, and the sweetest black berries you ever did taste. I didn’t have a cake made, invitations, or any traditions met. At least this wasn’t a shotgun wedding.

“Sentence-length palindromes ignore capitalization, punctuation, and word boundaries.” “The ancient Greek poet Sotades (3rd century BCE) invented a form of Ionic meter called Sotadic or Sotadean verse, which is sometimes said to have been palindromic, but no examples survive, and the exact nature of the “reverse” readings is unclear.”

“A palindrome was found as a graffito at Herculaneum, a city buried by ash in 79 CE.” “This palindrome, called the Sator Square, consists of a sentence written in Latin: “Sator Arepo Tenet Opera Rotas” (“The sower Arepo holds with effort the wheels”). “It is remarkable for the fact that the first letters of each word form the first word, the second letters form the second word, and so forth.” “Hence, it can be arranged into a word square that reads in four different ways: horizontally or vertically from either top left to bottom right or bottom right to top left.” “As such, they can be referred to as palindromatic.”

“Among aperiodic words, the largest possible palindromic density is achieved by the Fibonacci word, which has density 1/φ, where φ is the Golden ratio.” “Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 47 in G is nicknamed “the Palindrome”. “In the third movement, a minuet and trio, the second half of the minuet is the same as the first but backwards, the second half of the ensuing trio similarly reflects the first half, and then the minuet is repeated.” Didn’t have music at my wedding either and that felt like a thorn in my side. Eventually, went home and created my playlist, and this was so much fun! A must-do for recreation and creative outlet.

The small, tiny chapel had seven rows, all empty; also, “the number of rows in the periodic table of elements is seven.” “The neutral pH value that lies between acidity and alkalinity is seven.” “In most genomes or sets of genetic instructions, palindromic motifs are found.” “The meaning of palindrome in the context of genetics is slightly different, however, from the definition used for words and sentences.” “Since the DNA is formed by two paired strands of nucleotides, and the nucleotides always pair in the same way (Adenine (A) with Thymine (T), Cytosine (C) with Guanine (G)), a (single-stranded) sequence of DNA is said to be a palindrome if it is equal to its complementary sequence read backward.” Hopefully, I haven’t turned you around!

“Number 7 symbolizes eternal life in Egypt.” “It signifies a dynamic perfection or a complete cycle.” “Number 7 is supposed to be the number of negative moon (positive moon being 2).” “It took 7 virgins to light the Olympic flame.” It would have been amazing to have bridesmaids and of course there’d be seven of them! And thusly seven more stories to tell.

“Diatomic elements are pure elements that form molecules consisting of two atoms bonded together.” Standing before the minister, were two humans bonded by their love and hopeful optimism for each other and their futures together. “There are seven diatomic elements: hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, chlorine, iodine, bromine.” “These elements can exist in pure form in other arrangements.” “For example, oxygen can exist as the triatomic molecule, ozone.” There was a magnificent air that day! To this day, I am reminded by how simplicity can result in magnitudes, at a very high altitude.

It’s almost 7 o’clock, and we ushered ourselves, intricate lace white dress, rosary, and veil to the female minister. She asked us both, “do you believe in God, and would you like me to say a prayer?” I almost started crying, the sheer mention of our Lord and Savior. Yes! We both agreed and a beautiful prayer enveloped the small quaint chapel. We said our vows, though being half deaf, I looked to my would-be newbie husband for translation. Good thing this wasn’t in Latin, or I would be lost, ironically.

I now pronounce you husband and wife. Just like that, I got married. No photographer, gifts, or mementoes to cherish and look back upon. No honeymoon spoke of, afforded, or planned and by Christmas both my husband and father were clinging to life in separate hospitals. Not what I envisioned, but my hands were perpetually clinched in prayer to the father almighty. Please Lord, keep them with me, I implored!

My husband survived toxic shock syndrome, from an abscess tooth (look at those statistics for miracles) that Christmas and discovered his second chance on life. My father didn’t survive colon cancer after an arduous excruciating five-year battle. He was originally given 7 months to live. After all these years, I can with confidence, say there’s something to numerology, medical marvels, hoaxes, premonitions, genetics, traditions, superstitions, statistics, patterns, psychology, and the effervescent glory of God’s grace.

Miracles can happen and magic does exist. I hope you hold your loved ones near and dear this holy of holiest nights, coming up. And to every person going through trying times or this holiday, I will light a candle in silence for hope. My wish, for everyone alike and unalike, this Christmas; live like the number pie and keep going! Blast the Beatles, Love Is All You Need! Pray the good Lord too keep! And to all a good night! Merry Christmas!

Thank you for spending time with me this season. Hope you return for more stories to come …
